Modern design, with clean forms, flat (fireproof) roofs, and recessed windows, is a good choice to mitigate fire.

Spanish, Tuscan, Italian, French, all work well when utilizing fire proof siding, (plaster and stone), minimal eaves, heavy timber (if wood is used at all), and tile roofs.
